Why Coaching and What is Coaching?
The word "coach" originally referred to a horse-drawn vehicle that would take people from where they were to where they wanted to be. Contemporary coaching has a similar purpose. At its core, coaching is the art and practice of guiding a person or group from where they are toward the greater competence and fulfillment they desire. Coaching helps people expand their visions, build their confidence, unlock their potential, increase their skills, and take practical steps toward their goals.
Our lives and relationships often revert to our "default" patterns.
This is the spot where people get stuck or give up.
The coaching process grows from your internal desire for something to be different
and uses coaching tools and skills to motivate forward movement.
Life Coaching helps you to set a "new default"
and gives you a passion for even further growth.
Counseling focuses on looking in the "rearview mirror"
and Life Coaching focuses on looking through the "windshield".
However, occasionally coaches do have to direct you to the rearview mirror to help you move forward.
