Have you ever felt a bit lost? Not quite sure what it is you want to do with your life? Or do you know what you want to do but it's hard to find motivation to do the things you need to do to get started. When we lack motivation, everything can feel difficult.
What motivation really is.....
Motivation comes from within ourselves. It is our purpose or reason for doing something. Our motivation for something stems from our values and beliefs. When you have a strong sense of your personal values and beliefs, it forms a basis from which your motivation can go.
We all have different motivators. Some have an inner mission of wanting to help others. Some may include personal power, career success and money. Neither is wrong, however, many find external motivators like money or perceived success less powerful and we experience burn-out. Internal motivators alignment with our core values and the energy seems endless.
Something that really pushes our motivation button is accountability. Telling someone about your dreams and having them check in with you to see how you are doing on your plan of action.
What is the difference between motivation and inspiration? Someone can give a motivational speech but what they really are doing is inspiring their audience. True motivation actually come from within ourselves. Inspiration comes from the outside world. Speakers, writers, mentors, coaches and others can inspire us. Movies, music, books and art can do that also.
Picture motivation to be the fire in your belly, your purpose, your WHY...then picture inspiration as the fuel for that fire. The two work together. Inspiration can certainly be a tool to help increase your motivation but can not replace what was put in you in the first place.
Empowerment Coaches are very good at helping you find that fire that you lost or never even discovered.
